Our Core Values
History of Fellowship Church
Former Director of Missions for the Blue Ridge Baptist Association, David Burt, recognized the need for a Baptist church in the Middletown area. Pastor Bill Burcher of Waynesboro, PA, a pastor with previous experience in planting churches was given the task of starting a church in Middletown.
Pastor Burcher started the groundwork for the church in June of 2006. He is the one who gave us the name Fellowship. By October of 2006 he started a Bible study on Sunday mornings.
During the summer of 2007, Pastor Burcher was working on two potential churches in both Middletown and his his home town of Waynesboro. God providentially provided a solution. Pastor Jeff Moss, who was ordained in 2006, was living nearby and was looking for a place to pastor. Soon Pastor Bill and Pastor Jeff met. After a few months of working together, Pastor Bill handed the leadership of the church over to Pastor Jeff who became the Pastor of Fellowship the last Sunday of October, 2007.
At that point the church transitioned from a Bible study to having regular worship services. In January, 2009, Fellowship Baptist started renting an office on South Church Street, where Bible Study and other meetings can be held.
Jeff Moss was born and raised in
Frederick County, MD. After graduating from high school, Jeff attended Washington Bible College where he met his wife, Susan. They were married in 1984 and he moved back to Frederick County. For the next 20 years Jeff worked for the local cable company to support his growing family. Jeff felt God urging him to pursue full-time ministry in 2005. By 2006 Jeff was ordained a pastor and in 2007 God called Jeff to Fellowship Church. Jeff has been excited about his upcoming ministry to the Middletown community! Jeff's hobbies include watching the Redskins, weightlifting, collecting music, studying history and Biblical Hebrew and Biblical Greek.
Jeff and Susan currently live in Brunswick with their 3 boys ages 20, 16 and 11, and their 4 naughty cats.
